Specifically for Hydroponic Cultivation

Expanded Clay pebbles are used in hydroponics as a medium to support the plant. They are chemically inert, do not affect pH and provide excellent drainage. They are made from a special type of clay, which is heated to a high temperature causing it to pop like popcorn. Because the pebbles drain freely and don't hold excessive water, they provide good oxygen levels around the root zone and are particularly suitable for flood and drain systems. In drip irrigation the pellets can be mixed with a medium with better capillary action so the feed is dissipated broadly through to prevent salt build-up.

Green label perlite

Perlite is a generic term for a naturally occurring siliceous rock.  The distinguishing feature that sets perlite apart from other volcanic glasses is that when heated to a suitable point in its softening range, it expands from four to twenty times its original volume.  This is due to the rapid expansion of water within perlite, which creates the extremely light perlite that we use within the garden arena, with many benefits when it comes to it's horticultural uses.
